While I was poking around the web today I came across this site written by a Google person:
http://www.mattcutts.com/blog/seo-advice-url-canonicalization/ I guess I have problems. I usually use http://mysite.com/index.html but also sometimes http://mysite.com and occasionally http://www.mysite.com/index.html or http://mysite.com - seems like google will feel that those are 4 different websites!
I used to be: http://dragonstonemagnetics.com/index.htm, but one time when I added another program to my site my home page didn't come up unless the 'index.htm' was typed in - the new program grabbed the http://dragonstonemagnetics.com - So I had to redo that page to 'html' instead of 'htm' so that it would show by default. I really thought that search engines would be cleverer than that. Just about any human would know that those were all the same page.
Apparantly if I knew how to do a redirect and redirected 3 of the urls to the main one things would be better. But I don't have a clue how to do that.
